Edinburgh landmarks switch-off lights for Earth Hour
The global climate change initiative encourages people to save carbon emissions.
Edinburgh is set to celebrate Earth Hour this weekend by switching off the lights of iconic landmarks across the capital.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) global initiative encourages people to turn off their lights for one hour to save carbon emissions and show a stand for action against climate change.
Edinburgh Castle, the City Chambers and many landmarks across the city will be taking part in the event from 8.30pm on Saturday.
Acting director of WWF Scotland Sam Gardner said: "We're delighted that the City of Edinburgh Council is taking part in WWF's Earth Hour.
"It's an opportunity for us all to demonstrate in a simple way that we care about our planet and the impact climate change is having on people and nature across the world.
"With 1 in 6 of the world's species at risk of extinction from climate change, there has never been a more important time to call for action."
