Almost eight years after she was killed, Suzanne Pilley's body has yet to be found.

A high-profile search was launched for the Edinburgh bookkeeper after she failed to turn up for work in May 2010.

Her family have now spoken publicly of their anguish at the fact they have not been able to give her a proper burial.

May 4, 2010:

Boookeeper Suzanne Pilley fails to turn up at work at Infrastructure Management in Edinburgh. She is later reported missing by her parents.

May 5, 2010:

David Gilroy drives to Argyll for work more than 100 miles away. However, there are gaps in his journey between Lochgilphead and Inveraray.

May 11, 2010:

A high-profile campaign is launched to trace Suzanne, with screens erected in central Edinburgh to appeal for information.

May 19, 2010:

The Lothian and Borders Police investigation becomes a murder inquiry after CCTV footage shows Suzanne just outside her office building on the day she went missing. Her parents, Robert and Sylvia, say they fear something "sinister" has happened to her.

May 21, 2010:

Speaking to a reporter outside his home, David Gilroy, who had previously had an affair with Suzanne, denies any involvement in her disappearance.

May and June 2010:

Police search a 400 square mile area in Argyll and Bute.

June 23, 2010:

David Gilroy is charged with her murder. He appears in court the following day.

February 20, 2012:

David Gilroy goes on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh. The evidence brought against him includes pictures of scratches, which he had tried to cover up with makeup. Prosecutors say he killed Suzanne before hiding her body in a recess under a stairwell and moving it the following day.

March 15, 2012:

David Gilroy is found guilty of murder following a 17-day trial. The jury deliberated for two days before returning the verdict. Prosecutors say: "The disappearance of Suzanne Pilley and the anguish this has caused her family and friends has been unimaginable, and made all the worse by her body never having been found."

April 18, 2012:

Gilroy is sentenced to life in prison. Lord Bracadale's sentencing statement is filmed and broadcast by STV.

March 13, 2013:

Appeal court judges reject Gilroy's bid to have his case reviewed by the UK Supreme Court.

September 29, 2017:

Gilroy launches a legal bid to stop police plans to auction off the car he used to dispose of Suzanne's body.

March 8, 2018:

Police launch new appeal to find Suzanne's body.
