Travel advice for rugby fans ahead of Calcutta Cup match
The Scotland v England match will take place at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.
Rugby fans have been issued with travel advice ahead of the Scotland v England match at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.
The Calcutta Cup is the second of two sell-out Six Nations home matches.
To ensure pedestrian safety and to minimise traffic disruption, pedestrian diversions will be implemented around the Haymarket Station area.
Edinburgh City Council is working with Police Scotland to keep road and pedestrian traffic moving smoothly before and after the games.
Edinburgh Trams will be running services to the stadium from every three minutes, and ScotRail have put on extra carriages on routes from Glasgow, Fife, Dundee, Perth and the Scottish Borders.
ScotRail are advising that the trains will be extremely busy so supporters should allow additional time for travel.
Those heading back into the city centre on foot will be diverted left off the main road up Magdala Crescent to continue back into town.
Pedestrians travelling by rail from Haymarket Station will be guided along the main road towards Haymarket.
Russell Road will also be available for those pedestrians making their way back towards the Dalry area and as an alternative route to the city centre.
A number of temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in place in the Haymarket area.
Councillor Lesley Macinnes said: "As thousands flock to the Capital to see Scotland take on England for the Calcutta Cup, excitement is already building.
"To make the most out of the big day we'd advise match-goers and anyone planning to travel through the city centre to allow plenty of time for their journey.
"Whether you're getting there by bus, tram or on foot, it's a good idea to plan your trip to and from Murrayfield in advance as it's bound to be very busy. Come on Scotland!"
