Up to 100 cyclists to join glow in the dark bike ride
The GlowRide event will mark the capital becoming Scotland's first 20mph city in March.
A glow in the dark bike ride through Edinburgh will be held to celebrate the capital becoming Scotland's first 20mph city.
Up to 100 cyclists are expected to take part in the GlowRide on March 4, the night before the 'go live' date for the final phase of the new speed limit launch.
Edinburgh City Council says the initiative will make roads safer and reduce traffic noise.
Ultimately 80% of the capital's roads will be at 20mph, compared to 50% before.
The event hopes to promote safe cycling at night and national campaigns such as Be Bright Be Seen.
Bike safety checks will be available and cyclists will be able to decorate their bikes with brightly coloured LED lights before the ride starts.
Councillor Lesley Macinnes said: "This glow in the dark bike ride is a great way to mark the end of our rollout of calmer and safer streets in the capital.
"We know that slowing down traffic encourages people to walk and cycle more, helping everyone stay fit and improving air quality in our city."
