A man has been rescued from a fire in a sixth floor flat in Edinburgh.

Around 33 firefighters were called to the blaze at Medwin House in Sighthill at 9.30pm on Sunday.

Four of them entered the building wearing breathing gear and led the man to safety.

He was given oxygen at the scene before being taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished using a hose jet, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said.
