Botanic Garden lights up with festive winter trail
The one-mile illuminated trail will surround visitors with seasonal colour.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh winter trail will open on Friday.
Visitors will be greeted by the sights and sounds of Christmas as they wander beneath the tree canopies lit in seasonal colour.
Along the one-mile illuminated trail there will be a scented fire garden, a woodland grove of "singing" conifers and trees draped with giant baubles.
There will also be a lawn lit by 1000 spheres of light, a beech hedge illuminated by flashes of light and Santa Claus and his elves will be wandering around the trail.
Spiced cider, mulled wine, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts and marshmallows, which can be toasted by visitors at one of the fire pits, will also be available.
The event runs from Friday, November 24, to Saturday, December 30, but is closed for several dates over the Christmas period.
