A third Scotch whisky distillery is to be revived after being shut for decades.

Ian Macleod Distillers intends to bring Rosebank in Falkirk back into use after 24 years.

It follows Diageo's announcement it will invest £35m reviving two other lost distilleries.

Managing director Leonard Russell said: "Rosebank has a very special place in Scotland's whisky heritage and we are committed to ensuring this is the case.

"We will produce Rosebank lowland single malt in exactly the same way as it is known, using the famous triple distillation and worm tub condensers.

"This way we ensure the revival of its classic style and taste."

A spokeswoman for Ian Macleod said it is unclear when the distillery will reopen.
