A man with learning difficulties has been attacked at a bus station in Fife on Saturday night.

Peter Menellis, 25, was waiting near the bus station in Kirkcaldy at around 11.30pm on Saturday night when he was approached by a man and assaulted.

Mr Menellis sustained serious injuries to his face and handwas taken to Kirkcaldy Victoria Hospital to receive medical treatment.

A man is currently detained in connection with this incident and enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Samantha Davidson of Kirkcaldy CID said: "The victim sustained serious injuries and our investigation into this incident continues.

"We're eager to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, or who was in the Hill Street area around this time, and would ask those with information to contact us as soon as possible."
