Major search operation as car found submerged in river

A car was found submerged in a river, sparking a major search.
The discovery was made in the River Tay in Perth shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday.
The Renault was spotted by a worker at a nearby sewage plant.
Officers have spoken to the owner after nobody was found in the car.
Search teams were called to the incident, including a coastguard helicopter.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We are satisfied the car was not stolen and we are trying to ascertain how the vehicle ended up in the water."
