Family of seven swans rescued from dual carriageway
The birds were spotted wandering on the road near a roundabout in West Lothian.
A family of seven swans have been rescued from a dual carriageway in West Lothian.
Two adult swans and five cygnets were spotted on the A7066 in Bathgate on Friday.
The Scottish SPCA were called out after the birds were seen walking near a roundabout.
Police stopped traffic on the road as the swans were led back to their pond safely.
Animal rescue officer Fiona Thorburn said: "We were alerted after a concerned member of the public spotted the birds near a roundabout and was worried about their safety.
"The police were in attendance too as traffic had to be stopped to ensure we had no causalities.
"We were thankfully able to escort them back over to the nearby pond before they came to any harm."
