
Bomb disposal squad destroy antique fire extinguishers
A loud blast was heard as a controlled explosion took place near Musselburgh.
A bomb disposal squad has carried out a controlled explosion on antique fire extinguishers.
The fire extinguishers were discovered in St Michael's House, a stately home, in Inveresk near Musselburgh in East Lothian on Tuesday.
Explosive devices were found on the extinguishers and bomb disposal experts were called out in the afternoon to make them safe.
Twitter users reported hearing the blast nearby in Musselburgh.
A police spokeswoman said: "A controlled explosion was carried out."
