New concert hall in Edinburgh could be 'game-changer'
The venue will be built in St Andrew Square as the regeneration of the area continues.
A new concert hall in Edinburgh city centre could be a "game-changer" for Scottish culture.
The £45m venue, which is planned to be the new home of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, will be built in St Andrew Square.
The building is being funded by the Edinburgh City Deal with support from private benefactors.
Musicians, who have given the programme their seal of approval, currently perform at Dundas House.
The 1960s office block behind the RBS headquarters will be demolished to make way for the venue, which will have a 1000-seat auditorium at its centre.
Edinburgh's new centre will be the first new performance centre built in the city for a century.
Designs are at an early stage but the complex will also feature education and conference facilities.
Stages, rehearsal spaces and recording studio will be open to a wide range of other music and dance performers.
