A man suffered a slash wound on his hand in a serious assault in Lochend.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the attack on Lochend Road South at around 11.20pm on Wednesday night.

Police remained at the scene this morning as the investigation continued.

Officers said they were trying to trace witnesses and track down those responsible.
