Edinburgh drivers spend 38 hours in parking space hunt
Research from Inrix ranked London as the UK's worst city for finding a space.
Drivers in Edinburgh spend an average of 38 hours a year searching for a parking space, according to new research.
Figures from traffic information supplier Inrix looked at the time and financial cost endured by motorists across the UK.
London was ranked as the worst city for parking with commuters in the capital spending 67 hours searching for a spot, which led to £1,104 in wasted fuel.
Belfast came second on 56 hours with Leeds (47) and Bristol (46) next in line.
The study, which gained responses from almost 18,000 drivers, found that while 71% say there is not enough parking available, occupancy of spaces can be as low as 50%.
Dr Graham Cookson, Inrix chief economist, said: "To lessen the significant burden parking pain has on our economy and lives, smart parking solutions are available for drivers, parking operators and cities to help reduce search times, congestion and pollution as well as negate overpaying and fines altogether.
"Parking pain will only get worse until technology is fully embraced."
