Police are appealing for help in finding a priest who's gone missing Edinburgh.

Officers were contacted after Father Martin Vazhachira of St John The Baptist Church in Corstorphine missed a service.

The 33-year-old was last seen with in the church at 1pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Since then, he has failed to return and concern is now growing for his welfare.

He is described as Indian, around 5ft 5ins tall with a medium build, short black slightly curly hair and a clean shaven face.

Inspector Craig Rogerson said: "Father Vazhachira has been in Edinburgh since October last year and knows the Corstorphine area fairly well, however, we are also exploring whether he may have ventured further afield and so anyone with information as to his current whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately.

"I would also urge Father Vazhachira to get in touch with us, or with colleagues at the church, as soon as possible to let us know he is safe."

Those with information can contact officers at Corstorphine Police Station via 101.
