Police are searching a house in Glenrothes over the disappearance of Allan Bryant, who vanished almost four years ago.

The 23-year-old has not been seen since he left Styx nightclub in Glenrothes, Fife, on November 3, 2013.

Despite extensive searches and police appeals, no trace of him has been found.

On Friday, police confirmed they were carrying out searches of a house on Barnton Place in the town.

Mr Bryant's father, Allan Snr, posted a message on Facebook saying searches at the house were likely to go on over the weekend.

He said: "Apparently they're conducting searches and the police presence will be there all weekend working at the scene.

"We just hope something positive comes out of the search - this has been the biggest thing ever since Allan went missing.

"It's going to be a really hard weekend for my family, hopefully we get answers this time."

During a renewed appeal for information in November last year, police said they had "no idea" what had happened to him.

Detective inspector Stuart Wilson, of Police Scotland's major investigation team, confirmed officers were at the property.

He said: "Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Barnton Place, Glenrothes, on Friday, June 16, in connection with the ongoing investigation into missing man, Allan Bryant.

"We remain committed to getting answers for the Bryant family and any information we receive from the community will be assessed and further action taken wherever appropriate.

"Anyone who may have information about Allan's movements after he left Styx nightclub in Caskieberran Road in the early hours of November 3, 2013, is urged to get in touch as soon as possible and can pass information to Police Scotland by calling 101 or emailing operationtoner@scotland.pnn.police.uk"
