Gun salute marks anniversary of Queen's coronation
Shots rang out from Edinburgh and Stirling Castle to mark the 64th anniversary.
Troops at two Scottish castles have performed a 21-gun salute to mark the 64th anniversary of the Queen's coronation.
Major Andrew McDermott was joined by members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and the 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Edinburgh Castle at noon to celebrate the occasion.
Lord lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk Alan Simpson and major Thomas Palmer were on hand alongside troops at Stirling Castle for a similar demonstration.
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth took place at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953, the first ceremony of its kind to be shown live on television.
It required 14 months of planning with the Duke of Edinburgh overseeing the arrangements.
No official royal engagements are planned to mark the anniversary.
