Edinburgh residents and motorists have been warned to expect disruption this weekend ahead of the city's annual marathon.

Event organisers have issued advice alongside Edinburgh City Council and East Lothian Council in a bid to minimise any issues as thousands of runners pound the capital's pavements.

Eight zones have been identified including Portobello Promenade as well as around the finish line at Musselburgh Racecourse.

Roads will reopen at various stages throughout the day with Horse Wynd set to reopen to the public in the late afternoon or early evening.

The race is part of Scotland's biggest running festival and has grown in popularity since starting in 2003.

Race director Neil Kilgour said: "Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing as freely and smoothly as possible."
