An East Lothian couple who have grown so tired of energy companies and their price hikes have created their own firm.

Husband and wife team David Pike and Karin Sode took matters into their own hands with their project receiving an Ofgem licence.

People's Energy says it will put customers first by returning 75% of profits back to the consumers.

The firm will have customer representation on the board while salaries, decisions, accounts and prices will all be shared with the public.

Originally an engineer, David has spent recent years carrying out leadership consultancy work for the industry's big six firms.

The pair claim their company is based on empowering the consumer and rewarding them for their loyalty.
