SNP remain capital's largest party as Tories make gains
Ruth Davidson's party gained seven seats to land one behind the SNP.
The SNP returned the most councillors in the Edinburgh City Council despite losing two seats.
Having held 21 councillors, the Nationalists remain the biggest party with 19 seats from the city's 17 wards.
Labour slumped to third spot, losing nine councillors to move from 21 to 12.
The Conservatives were the big winners in the capital as they gained seven seats to move to 18 in total. The result leaves the Tories just one behind the SNP.
A rise of one seat to eight was welcomed by the Scottish Greens while it was also a successful election for the Liberal Democrats as they secured three additional councillors to take their total to six.
