A witness appeal a year on from an armed robbery on a Fife bank has prompted "several calls" from the public.

Two men threatened staff at the TSB on Dunearn Drive in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on Friday, January 29, last year.

The masked pair stuffed a four-figure sum of cash in carrier bags before making off on mountain bikes.

Detectives admitted they had "exhausted almost all possible lines of inquiry" as they issued a re-appeal for information last week.

Over the year-long investigation, officers have spoken to more than 400 residents but failed to track down the suspects.

They said the latest appeal had prompted a number of calls from potential witnesses.

Detective inspector Graeme Dursley, of Kirkcaldy CID, said: "We've received several calls from members of the public following our renewed appeal for information, and we remain extremely grateful for the cooperation of the local community.

"Our investigation continues as we work to bring those responsible for this crime to justice.

"Anyone who has not yet spoken to officers and may have seen the men in the area, or have information on their identities, is asked to contact Kirkcaldy CID via 101 as soon as possible."
