A man was seriously injured after being punched in the face in Edinburgh.

The 43-year-old was attacked on Buccleuch Street at around 12.45pm on Thursday.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary  for treatment.

His attacker was described as white, about 6ft 2in, of thin build with greying hair and was wearing a high-visibility jacket and sandy coloured boots.

Detective constable Stephen Herd of Gayfield CID said: "We're still conducting enquiries in order to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognise the suspect's description."
