An elderly dementia sufferer who disappeared from his Edinburgh home has been found safe and well.

Police issued an appeal after William Scott, 88, was reported missing on Wednesday around 1.30pm.

Officers confirmed that he had been traced in Musselburgh on Wednesday evening and thanked members of the public for their assistance.

Mr Scott was taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked over.
