Man in court charged with murder over 'stabbing' in Midlothian

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after an alleged stabbing in a Midlothian town.
Robert Kay made a brief appearance on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday following the death of Carlo Volante in Bonnyrigg earlier this week.
Mr Volante, 40, died in hospital after a disturbance on Auld Coal Grove on Tuesday afternoon.
Kay, 36, appeared on a single charge of murder.
He made no plea or declaration and the case was committed for further examination.
Kay was remanded in custody and is expected to make a second court appearance next week.
