Woman knocked down by taxi on Princes Street in Edinburgh

A woman suffered serious injuries when she was knocked down by a taxi on Princes Street in Edinburgh.
The pedestrian was trapped underneath the vehicle in the incident at around 12.20pm on Thursday.
The road was closed between North Bridge and Waverley Steps while emergency services attended.
It is understood that the woman is in a critical condition at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh responded to the east end of Princes Street at around 12.20pm on Thursday, January 5, following a collision involving a taxi and a female pedestrian."
He said an investigation into the full circumstances of the incident was ongoing.
Princes Street was reopened at around 3pm on Thursday.
