Two men and a woman who were arrested after police seized a sawn-off shotgun and drugs have been jailed for a total of more than 18 years.

The trio were arrested after police raided a house on Broomfield Crescent in Edinburgh as part of an initiative to tackle serious and organised crime.

Darren Docherty, 33, Amanda Docherty, 35, and Dale Kerr, 30, were found guilty of drugs supply charges after a trial at Glasgow High Court. Darren Docherty was also convicted of possessing the firearm.

During the raid in November last year, heroin worth £100,000, £32,000 of Zopiclone and £30,000 of cocaine was seized along with £10,000 of cash.

On Tuesday, Darren Docherty was sentenced to nine years, Amanda Docherty was sentenced to five years and Dale Kerr was given four years and five months.

Detective inspector Alan O'Brien from Edinburgh's Proactive CID said: "The large quantity of drugs, cash and the firearm seized from the address linked to the Dochertys and Kerr demonstrated their involvement in organised crime offences including drug supply.

"Operation Erpand utilised intelligence from the public to target these individuals, gather evidence of their crimes and subsequently bring them to justice, while ensuring various harmful drugs were not distributed on our streets

"Tackling serious and organised crime remains a top priority for Police Scotland and we will continue to utilise all resources at our disposal to bring offenders to justice and make communities safer.

"Anyone wishing to report ongoing crime in their area can do so by contacting Police Scotland on 101 or by making an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
