Bathgate gym stabbing now treated as attempted murder
Police are following a positive line of inquiry after attack on Tuesday.
A stabbing outside a gym in West Lothian is now being treated as attempted murder by police.
A 26-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the stabbing at the Muscle Asylum gym on King Street, Bathgate, on Tuesday at around 1.45pm.
Officers said they are pursuing a positive line of inquiry as they issued an appeal for witnesses.
Detective inspector Steven Bertram, of Livingston CID, said: "This assault left a man with serious injuries and we are treating it as an attempted murder.
"While we do have a positive line of inquiry, we are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information that can assist us with our inquiries."
The gym has been closed while investigations are carried out.
Local area commander chief inspector Barry Blair said he wanted to reassure local residents that the incident was "isolated and unusual".
He added: "We will be conducting additional high visibility patrols in the King Street area for the immediate future."
