Protest outside Russian Consulate in Edinburgh over Syria
Campaigners voiced their opposition at the country's involvement in air strikes.
Dozens of campaigners gathered outside the Russian Consulate in Edinburgh to protest against the country's role in the Syrian conflict.
Wednesday's demonstration called for the international community to act following reports of fresh fighting in Aleppo overnight.
Russia has been giving air support to President Assad's government forces as they attempt to reclaim rebel-held areas.
A deal was struck on Tuesday night to allow civilians and rebel fighters to be evacuated from the besieged city but fierce fighting resumed on Wednesday.
Campaigners carried banners and made speeches outside the Russian Consulate on Melville Street in Edinburgh.
They highlighted the message that "Edinburgh stands with Syria", calling for more to be done to protect residents of the country's second city.
Protesters said they wanted to show solidarity with Aleppo and urged those who could not attend to write to politicians to call for intervention in the conflict.
Organisers said ahead of the event: "This is an emergency protest in Solidarity with Aleppo and calling for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid by international organisations and the evacuations of all civilians."
