Police have named a man who died in a two-car crash in Midlothian earlier this month.

Howard Wilson died in the collision on the A6094 near the Leadburn Inn on October 2, in which a woman also lost her life.

Mr Wilson's silver Vauxhall Zafira was involved in a crash with a red Honda Jazz being driven by Irene Robson, 68.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which took place shortly before 1pm.

On Saturday, Mr Wilson's family paid tribute to the 41-year-old, of Dumfries.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, they said: "It is with great sadness that we announce Howard's death.

"Howard was a very much loved son, brother and adored daddy.

"Howard had great friends and he will be fondly remembered for his love of music, life and family time.

"We would like to say thank you to all friends and family who have contacted us offering their kind wishes."

The police investigation into the crash is ongoing and officers say they are keen to speak to anyone who stopped at the scene immediately after the collision.
