Traffic slowed down to a crawl at a busy Edinburgh junction after a crash just before rush hour.

Around 3.30pm on Friday, a Mercedes Avantgarde collided with a lorry on Great Junction Street at its junction with Ferry Road.

Neither driver was injured in the crash but the Mercedes was left blocking the road and emergency services reported debris and diesel on the surface of the carriageway.

Police officers directed traffic while the road was cleared, causing long tailbacks in the vicinity.

A spokesman said the junction had fully reopened by around 4.15pm.
