Motorcyclist in hospital after being thrown from bike
Motorbike and van involved in collision on south-east outskirts of Edinburgh.
A motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after being thrown from his bike in a collision with a van.
The 30-year-old was driving a yellow Honda CBR 900 motorbike near Danderhall on the outskirts of Edinburgh when it was involved in a crash with a white Citroen Berlingo.
The incident happened on The Wisp, near the junction with Edmonstone Road, at around 5pm on Friday.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in a stable condition.
The road was closed in both directions for five hours while roads collision officers carried out inquiries.
Constable Neill Sage said: "This was a very serious incident and our enquiries are ongoing as we seek to establish the full set of circumstances that led up to this collision.
"Anyone who was travelling in the area of The Wisp on Friday afternoon who remembers either vehicle is asked to contact police immediately if not already done so."
