Man dies after blaze rips through block of flats in Fife

A man has died after a blaze ripped through his ground-floor flat.
The 42-year-old has lost his life after a fire took hold in a block of flats in East Wemyss, Fife, on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to Sir Jimmy Shand Court at around 10.30am when a neighbour raised the alarm.
Rescuers attended and removed the victim from the building but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbouring flats were also evacuated as a precautionary measure while fire crews extinguished the flames.
A joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is now underway to establish the full set of circumstances.
Detective Chief Inspector Graham Fenton based at Glenrothes police station said: "This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the death of a 42-year-old man.
"Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.
"A thorough and robust investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway however the incident is being treated as non-suspicious at this time."
