E Coli diagnosis linked with Scout camp near Selkirk
One patient is confirmed to have the bug while another is being monitored.
A patient has been diagnosed with E Coli in Fife, NHS officials have revealed.
The patient is recovering at home, while a second person is being assessed after displaying symptoms of the infection.
Both the confirmed and suspected cases attended a Scout camp near Selkirk in the Scottish Borders from July 16-23.
Anyone who attended the camp is being encouraged to seek medical assistance if they develop symptoms including diarrhoea or vomiting.
Investigations are underway to identify the source of the infection and steps have been taken to both identify those at risk, and reduce the likelihood of further infection.
Dr Charles Saunders, consultant in public health medicine, said: "Whilst the risk of further infection is small, I would encourage anyone who attended the scout camp and has experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, stomach pain and fever, to seek medical attention."
