Police have released CCTV footage of the last sighting of a missing diabetes sufferer who is believed to have disappeared without his medication.

Robert Cantle was last seen getting into his car in Hawick's Howgate at 6.08am on Sunday, July 24.

The 45-year-old, who has Type 1 diabetes, is described as being white, 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build with a shaven head and red beard.

He is thought to have travelled to the Jedburgh area on Sunday morning in his silver/grey Fiat Punto, registration ST54 HCH, and is is not thought to have taken his medication with him.

Police have carried out an extensive search over the last week in Hawick and Jedburgh, including use of the force helicopter.

Inspector Tony Hodges said: "We are issuing the CCTV images in the hope that they will jog someone's memory, having seen Robert or his car in the past week. Our enquiries lead us to believe that he has left Hawick and travelled to the Jedburgh area, but so far we have not located Robert or his vehicle.

"We are extremely concerned for his welfare, due to the length of time he has now been missing for without any sightings, his apparent lack of medication, and not having made any known contact with friends and family."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police immediately on 101.
