Two men have been charged with serious assault after a mass brawl at an Edinburgh pub.

Police said the "large-scale disturbance" broke out in the Artful Dodger on Calder Road, Sighthill, on Saturday.

A fight broke out between a number of customers who had been drinking in the pub at around 8pm.

Officers from Edinburgh CID's violence reduction unit traced and arrested two men in connection with the case this week.

A 30-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody while a 27-year-old was scheduled to appear on Thursday.

Detective sergeant Robbie Wallace said: "It's only through good fortune that more people were not seriously injured in this large-scale disturbance.

"Our investigation has now resulted in the arrests of two men, helping send a clear message that we take a zero tolerance approach towards public unrest.
