Kirkcaldy shooting: Police search for man seen leaving scene
Gunshots damaged house and car in Craigfoot Walk but no one was injured in Thursday's incident.
Police are following a positive line of inquiry after shots were fired at a house in Fife last week.
No one was injured in the incident on Thursday night but the gunshots damaged the property and a parked car on Craigfoot Walk in Kirkcaldy.
Officers are keen to trace a man seen running away from the area shortly after firearm was discharged at around 10.30pm.
They are also investigating reports of a dark van being seen on the street around the time of the shooting.
Police stressed the incident was "not random" and inquiries were progressing well.
Detective inspector Colin Robson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have established that a male was seen running off from the address following the sound of shots.
"We are looking into this sighting along with a report of a dark coloured van seen in the area prior to the incident and seen leaving after it.
"Officers have been in the area all weekend carrying out door-to-door inquiries and I would like to thank the local community for their continued assistance and patience."
Inspector Graeme Neill at Kirkcaldy said: "We would like to reassure the public that this type of incident is very rare and that this was not a random incident.
"In addition we are following positive lines of inquiry. We are in the process of contacting residents in the immediate area of the incident to provide reassurance and maintain contact with those most affected.
"Again I would like to thank the local community for their assistance and patience."
"I would still appeal for anyone with any information that could assist us with our inquiries to contact any local officer, telephone us on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
