Historic chapel targeted by vandals a year after renovation
Donibristle Chapel, which is nearly 300 years old, has been covered in spray paint.
A "beautiful" chapel has been vandalised after being renovated last year.
Donibristle Chapel in Dalgety Bay, Fife, was sprayed with graffiti between 4pm on Saturday, April 30 and 10am on Tuesday, May 3.
A local resident contacted police after noticing the building had been covered in spray paint.
The A-listed structure was built in 1731 as a private mortuary chapel for the earls of Moray, who lived at nearby Donibristle House.
Sergeant Kate Blackwell said: "The chapel had previously been derelict until a major renovation in 2015, at a considerable expense.
"It is therefore extremely disappointing that anyone would look to subject this beautiful building to such unnecessary and extensive damage.
"Since this matter was reported to us we have been conducting numerous lines of inquiry to identify the culprits."
Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area over the May Day weekend.
