The body of a missing Fife cyclist has been recovered after a major search operation.

Stuart Craig, 26, was reported missing from Kirkcaldy last Friday.

Police launched an extensive search of the coastline involving the coastguard and RNLI earlier this week.

Officers confirmed Mr Craig's body was found in the docks area of Kirkcaldy on Thursday.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Mr Craig's family said: "Stuart was a much-loved son, brother, nephew and grandson.

"He was a special person who fought a long battle for so long and now he is finally at peace."

Inspector Graeme Neill said: "Sadly we have now confirmed that it is Stuart Craig and his family have been informed.

"Stuart's family thank the public, police and everyone involved in the search for him."
