Fears grow for pensioner missing from sheltered housing
Thomas Davidson, 73, who has Parkinson's disease, has not been seen since Tuesday night.
Fears are growing for the safety of a pensioner who has gone missing from a sheltered housing complex.
Thomas Davidson, 73, was last seen at about 9pm on Tuesday in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
He told carers at the Esk Place sheltered housing complex that he was going for a walk.
Mr Davidson, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, was seen going in the direction of Lugton Brae.
The police helicopter and specialist search teams have been enlisted to support the search for Mr Davidson.
Speaking to STV News on Thursday, chief inspector Kenny Simpson urged the public to contact police with any potential sightings.
He said: "With the adverse weather conditions and as time goes on, our concern grows.
"Thomas is a fit individual. While he suffers from Parkinson's, he likes to go out walking. I would appeal for the public to be vigilant.
"We are searching in places like Dalkeith Country Park and other areas. We'd ask people to be aware and to be alert."
Mr Simpson said Mr Davidson may have taken shelter in outbuildings or sheds.
He added: "There is rugged terrain and there are a couple of rivers nearby. That gives us cause for concern."
Mr Davidson is around 6ft but walks with a stoop, which makes him appear shorter. He has a slim build, short thin grey hair and was wearing a large navy blue coat, which has two pockets on the chest, dark grey flannel trousers and most likely dark shoes or trainers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
