Fresh appeal after woman dies in collision with bin lorry
Police urge witnesses to come forward after incident in Morningside, Edinburgh, on Sunday.
Police have launched a fresh appeal following a fatal road collision that resulted in the death of a woman in Edinburgh on Sunday.
The 85-year-old was hit by a private bin lorry on Morningside Road, near Jordan Lane, at about 11.45am.
Police refreshed their appeal for witnesses on Monday following the incident.
In particular, officers want to trace a man who was seen standing on a nearby pavement outside Stefano's Chip Shop and left visibly upset after the incident.
Police also want to speak to a pedestrian who was seen crossing the same stretch of road shortly before the incident itself.
Sergeant Andrew Miller, of the road policing unit, said: "Our investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing and I am today urging anyone who was in the area around the time of this collision to come forward.
"In particular, I'm keen to speak with a man who was standing on a nearby pavement and wearing a light coloured jumper. He was visibly upset and may have witnessed the tragic events as they unfolded.
"Similarly, I want to hear from a pedestrian who was crossing the same stretch of road shortly before the collision."
