Chaos on roads as Scotland wakes up to snowfall and sleet
A yellow weather has been issued until 9pm on Saturday for much of the country.
Snowfall overnight and into Saturday morning has been causing chaos on roads and motorways in large parts of Scotland.
Several incidents have been reported throughout the country with drivers warned of dangerous conditions and delays.
A yellow weather warning is active for Central, Tayside, Fife, Grampian, Highlands, SW Scotland, Lothian, Borders & Strathclyde until 9pm on Saturday.
Traffic Scotland and Police Scotland have both issued warnings to drivers and told them to expect difficult conditions with snow and sleet causing disruptions on several routes.
Two separate crashes near Junction 2A northbound at Gartcosh restricted all lanes for around 30 minutes as emergency services attended.
And the A68 northbound at Soutra was blocked due to a crash involving a HGV.
And in Glasgow heavy sleet and snowfall is causing icy roads and dangerous conditions on motorways.
Anyone using the roads have been advised to drive safely.
Meanwhile in Paisley Junction 27 of the M8 under the Arkleston bridge has deep water affecting the road.
Police Scotland issued a warning to motorists as road conditions worsened on Saturday morning.
A statement said: "There is a yellow weather warning in place for many parts of the country today and many areas are waking up to wintry weather conditions.
"Take care on the roads and be prepared for your journey. Slow down and drive to the conditions."
Several cars were also involved in an accident on the M77 southbound at the Maidenhill exit slip near Newton Mearns.
STV Weather presenter Sean Batty said: "By Sunday we'll be back to sunshine and scattered showers, most of these affecting the north where they will be wintry on the hills. Much milder air moves north early next week."
