Scot dies after 'fight between holidaymakers' in Benidorm
A 33-year-old man died on a street following an altercation with other British tourists on Friday.
A Scottish tourist has died following an apparent fight between holidaymakers in Benidorm.
The incident happened shortly after 3am this morning on the Spanish seaside resort.
Police believe the 33-year-old man died after a fight involving other British tourists.
A spokesman for the National Police in Alicante confirmed to the STV News that a 33-year-old man from Scotland had died while on holiday in the resort.
They said that witnesses had told them a fight had broken out between the man and other British holidaymakers.
Specialist officers are investigating and the area has been cordoned off while investigations take place.
The cause of death is not yet known and a post-mortem is set to be carried out later today.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: "Our staff are providing assistance to the family of a British man who has died in Benidorm."
