Temperatures are to plummet to as low as -6C in parts of Scotland.

Stirlingshire, Perthshire and the Highlands will experience the coldest conditions on Monday morning.

It comes after snow affected the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire on Friday and Saturday.

STV weather presenter Sean Batty said the coldest weather will arrive in the early hours of the morning.

He said: "I expect Sunday night to be the coldest night with lighter winds across the country.

"Into Monday morning the temperature could hit a low of around -6C in a few spots of Stirlingshire, Perthshire and the western Highlands.

"Temperatures will stay on the lower side into the start of next week, but should recover a bit by midweek."

He added: "Longer term modelling is hinting at what we call blocking into November.

"This basically means that high pressure is expected to develop somewhere nearby, keeping things on the more settled side for us, and is more likely to bring us below average temperatures with a higher incidence of frost and fog."
