Dozens of Scots jobs lost as Poundworld stores to close
A buyer was not found for the discount chain, resulting in 76 jobs being lost in Scotland.
Dozens of jobs are to be lost at Poundworld after the firm announced six Scottish stores are to close.
Administrators Deloitte failed to find a buyer for the discount chain, resulting in 76 jobs being lost in Scotland.
Stores in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Greenock, Inverness, Livingston and Dumfries are to shut following the announcement.
The closures will be made between Friday, July 20 and Sunday, July 22.
A total of 125 stores are to close across the UK under the plans.
Clare Boardman, joint administrator, said: "Whilst we remain hopeful that a sale for part, or parts, of the business can still happen, it has not been possible to sell the business as a whole.
"We would like to thank all the employees for their continued support and commitment during this difficult time.
"We are keeping staff appraised of developments as they happen."
The latest closures come after firms including House of Fraser, Maplin and Toys R Us all announced it was to shut Scottish stores.
