Aviemore and Braemar are set to be the hottest places in Scotland on Wednesday.

Both areas are to reach 30C as warm air from the Sahara is expected to bring the warmest weather since July 2013.

Glasgow and Drumnadrochit in Loch Ness will also be among the hottest places in Scotland, reaching 29C.

Scotland could be looking at its warmest June weather since 1995.

STV weather presenter Sean Batty said: "Scotland will experience unusually high temperatures in the coming days with a high possibility of exceeding 30C in a few spots.

"Wednesday and Thursday look like the hottest days with the mercury soaring to the high 20s widely with the warmest spots tending to be in the north and west of the country.

"Deeside, Aviemore, Inverness, Loch Ness and Glasgow are likely to be the top hot spots on Wednesday with temperatures likely to reach between 28C and 30C."
