A man has died after two vehicles crashed on the airfield at Heathrow Airport.

The airport said on earlier on Wednesday that it was dealing with a "serious accident" after passengers reported delays.

Police said a man in his 40s died in the incident.

Another male suffered a suspected broken shoulder in the crash, which happened on the airfield shortly after 6am on Wednesday.

No-one has been arrested and officers continue to investigate, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

At least 20 British Airways flights from Terminal 5 were delayed and passengers were ordered to leave an aircraft which was unable to take off because of the incident.

The airline apologised to passengers and said it was doing "all we can" to ensure delayed flights depart as soon as possible.
