Snow and ice cause travel disruption for commuters
The wintry conditions have affected routes including the M74 in Dumfries and Galloway.
Scotland has been hit by snow and ice causing travel disruption for commuters.
A yellow severe weather warning is in place for areas such as Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and the Highlands throughout Wednesday.
Snow is affecting routes including the M74 in Dumfries and Galloway, which has been partially closed due to the weather.
Rain, sleet and hail is also impacting on roads such as the M8 and the M77.
Chief superintendent Stewart Carle said: "Winter driving is a question of common sense and drivers should ask themselves if they really need to travel when conditions are poor.
"No one should ever place themselves at risk on the road and it may be worth considering postponing your journey or making alternative arrangements such as delaying travel until conditions improve or using public transport.
"If you are travelling on the roads you should ensure you and your vehicle are adequately prepared for the conditions, making sure you have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food and water in the event you are delayed for several hours."
