Two hillwalkers who were missing overnight have been found, as searches continue for a third man in the Cairngorms.

The two men, who are aged 42 and 47, had failed to return from a walk in the Glen Tilt area near Blair Atholl in Perthshire.

A coastguard search and rescue helicopter located them safely on Saturday afternoon.

A major search operation was launched further north to trace a 65-year-old man who had been walking on Lochnagar, a mountain near Braemar in Aberdeenshire.

He also failed to return from a walk on Friday evening.

"Challenging conditions" hindered the search for the 65-year-old on Friday night, with blizzards hitting the area.

Further searches during the day on Saturday also failed to locate the missing hillwalker, as gusts of up to 100mph were recorded nearby.

Braemar Mountain Rescue said the search would be stood down overnight and would recommence on Sunday morning.
