Welcome to Scotland from the Roadside, a weekly gallery showcasing some of the best images from around the country taken by you.

From opportune moments shot on smartphones to breathtaking landscapes captured in high definition, each week we share a selection of interesting pictures taken by people on their travels around Scotland.

We have partnered up with the Scotland from the Roadside Facebook group, a popular destination for trading photos and stories, which has drawn in more than 120,000 members.

Each week, we ask the page's creators, Bruce Philip and Linda Curran, to select their favourite images shared on the page over the past seven days.

From abandoned boat houses to misty lochs, take a look at some of the spectacular shots they've selected.

Drumore Loch by Iain Galbraith‎

"l live in Alyth which is kind of local to the loch," says Iain.

"Earlier in the day l went as far as Braemar hoping for some snow images but was struggling for inspiration.

"On my way home l spotted some mist sinking off Mount Blair triggering a light bulb moment. Alas, no mist, but l still thought 'wow'."

Red Point by Francesca Course

This was the perfect way to start 2018, looking out into the distance to see what the year will bring," says Francesca.

"I live in Milan now but I'm originally from Cumbernauld so every year I come back and visit and dedicate four or five days to travelling up north."

Charlotte Square by Sheila Weir

"We were a few hours in Edinburgh visiting our son and returning all the items left at our house after the Christmas holidays," says Sheila.

"It was an awful morning in Wemyss Bay so we enjoyed a few hours of dry weather in Edinburgh and I took the photo of Charlotte Square when the sun put its hat on."

Highland blue by Holger Drewicke

"This photo was taken in your beautiful Highlands," says Holger.

"We took this picture at Loch Loyne. I've spent every holiday in Scotland since I was 11 years old I think.

"This time we came for Hogmanay in Inverness then Portree for a concert with Manran and Skerryvore. And today we'll go to Oban for Manran and Tide Lines. We love it."

Stepping on the moon by Derek H.Campbell‎

"I'm a local Hawick man (Teri) and was just out walking the dog during the full moon," says Derek.

"I looked up and noticed the lights from the town's Christmas lights glistening on the horse.

"When I turned my head, the full moon appeared below the horses raised hoof. Perfect timing."

He adds: "The horse is at the end of the High Street and commemorates the victory of local youths over English invaders at nearby Hornshole in 1514, a year after the Battle of Flodden where many Borderers were killed.

"It depicts one of the Hawick riders returning from the skirmish at nearby Hornshole holding aloft the captured English banner."

Coastguard in the Cairngorms by Chris Murray

"This photo was taken by myself from the Coastguard helicopter while on a training exercise in the Cairngorm mountains," says Chris.

"The day was sunny and I just decided to take this picture on the overfly as the light conditions were perfect.

"And of course the big red and white helicopter is a reassuring sight for the people high up in that terrain."

Pass of Drumochter by Mikhael Natavidat‎

"The main reason I took this photo was the blue sky over the white mountains with the street leading far away," says Mikhael.

"This was an impressive scene. My wife and I are from Germany and were on holiday in Scotland in November 2015.

"We had made our first trip to Peebles one year before and fell in love with the country."

He adds: "Our third trip led from the Ferry Harbour in Newcastle over Edinburgh to Skye, Ullapool and Inverness.

"We experienced all four seasons on this trip. There, at the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, we saw how beautiful the winter in Scotland could be."

Flying high by Ed Lewis

"I'm an amatuer wildlife and landscape photographer and artist based on Bernera in the Western Isles," says Ed.

"The photo was taken at 11.50am on December 9, 2017. I was sitting in our front porch taking photographs of starlings feeding from our garden tree and the light was good for a change.

"I saw two Greylag Geese fly over the house making a racket, followed in close succession by two eagles."

He continues: "I only managed to photograph one of them. This one kept heading towards me, then turned right (the other banked left and went around the other side of the house).

"Not sure what happened to the geese."

Stornoway Harbour by John Dyer‎

"I took this photo of Stornoway from the grounds of Lews Castle," says John.

"It was taken just after midday and the clouds were unbelievable and made the town's harbour look extra special.

"We moved to the Isle of Lewis a few months ago and it has been a dream move for me and every day is a photo opportunity and the day I took this shot was one of the most memorable yet."

Neist Point Lighthouse by Chris Hurley

"I went to Neist Point with my uncle on New Year's Day hoping to catch the sunset," says Chris.

"Unfortunately nothing happened but the cloud formation was pretty spectacular."
