Heavy snow causing travel disruption around Scotland
Flights were suspended at Glasgow Airport with wintry weather forecast across the country.
Travel warnings are in place after one of the coldest nights of the year, with snow falling across much of Scotland.
The heavy snowfall led to flights being temporarily suspended at Glasgow Airport for just under an hour on Friday morning.
Up to 5cm (2in) of snow fell overnight, leading to Glasgow Airport putting the measures in place for almost an hour on Friday morning.
At around 10am the travel hub tweeted it was back up and running but winter operations staff would be on standby throughout the day.
Forecasters predict those conditions will head eastwards before turning into sleet and rain.
Arctic air caused the mercury to plummet overnight, with a temperature of -12.3C recorded at Loch Glascarnoch in the Highlands.
Snow is forecast across most of Scotland and icy conditions are expected in the north east.
The Met Office issued a "yellow" warning for snow until 3pm on Friday.
Disruption was reported on roads around the country.
The Erskine Bridge over the Clyde was blocked southbound due to a crash around 9.30am.
In St Johns Town of Dalry, in Dumfriesshire, a number of vehicles became stuck in snow on the A713, which was also blocked for a period on Friday morning.
Amey, the firm which maintains roads in the south east of Scotland, said it had 27 gritters and eight tractors out on routes in the region.
Scotland TransServ, which maintains roads in the south west, said many areas had been affected and gritters were out on trunk routes.
A Met Office spokeswoman said: "Temperatures dropped quite a bit last night creating some fair amounts of snow coming through.
"As we continue that should start to pull away eastwards, we should see some milder air, turning to a watery mix of precipitation.
"By evening time it should be mostly dry."
Overnight the Met Office measured 5cm of snow in Altnaharra in the Highlands, 4cm in Drumalbin, South Lanarkshire, while Bishopton, Renfrewshire, had 2cm by 8am.
The delays at Glasgow Airport meant one couple had to delay their honeymoon.
Twitter user Charlie Brown was travelling to Berlin with his partner but they were left "sat on the runway for an hour".
He tweeted: "Sat on runway @glasgowairport for an hour....honeymoon delayed slightly..@easyJet any chance of a coffee?".
Another Twitter user travelling to Prague was also delayed at Glasgow Airport after becoming stuck on the runway.
@documentingMD tweeted: "Stuck on the runway in the snow at @GLA_Airport... @jet2tweets we are hungry!! Any tips for Prague if we eventually get there?"
Edinburgh City Council said it had gritters out on streets on Thursday night and Friday morning, with the snow due to continue into the afternoon.
Celtic sent out a tweet from their official Twitter account highlighting the snowfall in the east end of Glasgow.
The tweets showed snow covering the pitch of Celtic Park in Parkhead with statues and Paradise Way walkway also covered.
Celtic will play Glasgow rivals Rangers in the second Glasgow derby match of the season at Celtic Park on Saturday.
